The White House Rose Garden is almost unrecognizable as President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump continue their summer repairs.
A new photo, taken on Tuesday, July 22, showed the large concrete slab, which now rests where the grass once covered the historical space, which was given the central lawn in 1961 at the request of President John F. Kennedy.

In an interview with March with Laura Inghm on Fox News, Trump explained the decision to leave concrete and design something more like the presidential yard.
“You know, we use [the Rose Garden] For press conferences and that doesn’t work because people fall, he said. “The terrain can be wet, and the soft land can be a problem for some … Women, with high heels, just didn’t work out.”
When the repairs began in early June, a White House employee described new construction as “restoration” and told people that Donald and Melania “had a deep respect for the history of the White House and for the Rose Garden.”
“This restoration of Rose Garden preserves the beauty of space and upgrades the work done in 2020,” said the employee, “with an emphasis on enhancing the practical use and experience of guests for those present at special events.”

Melania faced a significant reaction when she initially replaced the rose garden in 2020. The first lady even made a rare public statement after NBC News President Michael Beshlos described her botanical vision as “gloomy”.
“The apology of the White House Rose Garden was completed a year ago this month. Here was a gloomy result – decades of American history made to disappear,” Beshlos said in 2021, citing the limestone border, which Melania is placed in the exterior, which is often hosted and more receptions.

While many did not like the heavy gaze of Melania’s limestone border, the 2020 project seeks to improve drainage and sunlight to the Rose Garden, whose namesake flowers have failed to flourish over the years. Only 12 original pink shrubs remain when Melania leads the addition of 200 new ones.
The updates are expected to be completed by the National Park Service and funded by the Trust for the National Mall-to be completed by mid-August 2025.
New construction comes against the backdrop of recent viral attention to other Trump changes in the White House, including the gilding of the oval office.
April report on The Wall Street Journal He revealed that the president had included his “golden man”, the cabinet John Icart, to create gold borders for his political portraits, gilded carvings for the fireplace fireplace, Trump’s gold comb.

Earlier, ICART worked on Mar-A-Lago projects, and the obsessive style also voices the scandalous Trump Tower Tower apartment.
The updates are a complete contrast to the simple design, preferred by past presidents such as Joe Biden and Barack Obama.
